Founder:
William H. Buttler
In 1972 William Buttler established Control Layouts in Piscataway New Jersey out of the back of his Volkswagen. For 37 years William (commonly known as Bill) and his wife Laurie ran Control Layouts, implementing traditional survey techniques all while incorporating up and coming technology. In 2009 Bill sadly passed away and Laurie took over for 2 years.

Gregg Gaffney
On June 15, 2011 Laurie sold the company to employee, now owner: Gregg Gaffney. Gregg became a licensed surveyor in 2011 for both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He continues Bills legacy in delivering industry leading surveys by implementing traditional techniques combined with cutting edge technology.

Located in Highland Park New Jersey, Control Layouts, Inc. has been a reputable small business since its inception in 1972. CLI offer a wide variety of services to both the homeowner and construction management. By using high precision grade equipment CLI is able to consistently provide detailed and accurate surveys.
Being a local small business we recognize the demands of the industry and strive to go beyond the standard for both our residential and commercial customers. Our client’s projects vary in both size and complexity. Residential services will typically consist of boundary surveys to help locate property lines. While construction services can encompass 400 acre development sites which demand consistent attention to detail and timeliness in order to remain on schedule. Regardless of the site, Control Layouts continues to strive for the most accurate survey.
